Removal of Snow and Ice from Public Sidewalks
City ordinance 606.01 requires property owners, occupants, or those in charge of a property to clear snow and ice from abutting sidewalks within 12 hours after the end of a snowfall or rainfall. This includes sidewalks fronting on intersecting streets, crosswalks, and curb ramps. If ice cannot be removed, apply salt, sand, or a similar substance to make it safe for walking.
Lack of adherence may result in the City removing the snow and ice, with the cost billed to the property owner. For everyone's safety, please keep your sidewalks clear this winter! Thank you for your cooperation!
