Landfill Costs - Note New Fees Effective March 1, 2025
- Household Garbage and Furniture: $115.00 per ton with a $15.00 minimum charge from 0 – 180 pounds. Effective 3/1/2025 the cost per ton increases to $115.00 with a minimum charge of $15.00 per Resolution 2025-03.
- Construction materials: $115.00 per ton with a $15.00 minimum charge.
- Concrete: $20.00 per ton.
- Large Appliances: $15.00 for each appliance. Stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, freezer, hot water heater, dehumidifier, humidifier, furnace, or air conditioners.
- Small Appliances: $5.00 for each appliance. Coffee machines, vacuums, shampooers, etc.
- Microwaves: $25.00 each
- Televisions: $25.00 each
- Copy Machines: $25.00 each
- All recyclable items: cardboard, newspapers, magazines; glass bottles and jars – brown, clear, and green; tin cans; aluminum foil; aluminum cans; plastic 1-7 – at no charge
Items Not Accepted
- Tires: As of June 17, 2020 tires will no longer be accepted at the Richland Center Landfill. For disposal, please refer to local auto shops or salvage yards. Also accepted at the Richland County Electronics & Tire Collection Event.
- Computers: Goodwill Industries is a collection/drop-off point for computers and computer related equipment in any condition – no charge. Also accepted at the Richland County Electronics & Tire Collection Event.
- Light bulbs: Light bulbs of all types can be taken to Walsh’s Ace Hardware (608-647-8925).
- Batteries: The Richland Center Landfill accepts household batteries. Automotive batteries should be taken to local auto part stores or repair shops.
- Oil Filters: O’Reilly Auto Parts will take used oil filters – no charge 12/12/2011
- Used Oil: Collection tank for used oil free of additives can be disposed of free of charge at the Richland County Highway Shop, 23630 County HWY AA.
- Medications: Drop-off boxes may be found at the City Municipal Building and The Richland Hospital
- Sharps: Collection box located at The Richland Hospital.
The City does not collect the following material and they should not be placed at the curb: lumber, rocks, concrete, soil, sod, metal, furniture. If the following material is left at the curb, you will receive a notice in the mail. If the material is not removed, it will be removed at your expense.
