Since K9 Teddy’s first shift in January of 2022, K9 Teddy has been deployed approximately 150 times. During those deployments, K9 Teddy has located Methamphetamine, Heroin, Cocaine, Fentanyl and illegal firearms. Officer Deneen and K9 Teddy were nominated for ‘Meritorious Narcotics Find of The Year’ in 2023 through Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handlers Association for one particular arrest by K9 Teddy and Officer Deneen which resulted in an investigation that yielded approximately 10 pounds of Methamphetamine and 90,000 fentanyl pills in Arizona.

K9 Teddy has also been deployed to locate parties who have fled apprehension, all of these parties surrendered after being warned of K9 Teddy’s presence, which resulted in officers being able to use a lower level of use of force to apprehend the suspects.

The Richland Center Police Department K9 program was first introduced in 2020 with the addition of K9 Lucy. K9 Lucy was adopted by Officer Shaylyn Isaacson. She is a tracking bloodhound and can be used to search for missing and deceased parties. During her time of service, K9 Lucy has located both deceased and missing parties, including a deceased elderly male who was found submerged in the Pine River. Without the skills and assistance of K9 Lucy, it is likely the male would not have been found. K9 Lucy is one of very few tracking bloodhounds used in the State of Wisconsin and provides a rare asset to Richland Center and surrounding agencies in locating missing parties.
