You have a parking ticket, now what?

Parking tickets issued in the City of Richland Center are paid directly to the Police Department. PLEASE pay your ticket in a timely manner or late fees can build up and registration of vehicles in your name will be suspended and refused any new registration.

Here is how a parking ticket accumulates late fees:

Parking tickets must be PAID within FIVE (5) days of issuance. Otherwise:

If your parking ticket is paid after FIVE (5) days but within THIRTY (30) days of being issued, your fine only increases by $5.00.

But, if your parking ticket is paid after THIRTY (30) days but before FORTY-FIVE (45) days, your fine will increase by $10.00!

Finally, if your parking ticket is not paid after FORTY-FIVE (45) days, your fine increases by $15.00 AND the registration of your vehicle(s) will be SUSPENDED!!!

What does a SUSPENDED REGISTRATION mean for you? Well, ANY vehicle registered or purchased in your name will NOT be allowed by the WI DMV until ALL parking fines and accrued fees are paid.

The Police Department can also re-coup payment by going through the Wisconsin Tax Refund and Intercept Program (T.R.I.P.), which removes money from any State Income Tax refund you may receive to pay off the parking ticket debt.

If your registration has been suspended, all you have to do is pay your fees to the Richland Center Police Department. The police department will then alert the WI Department of Motor Vehicles that you have complied with payment and the suspension will be lifted.

DON'T GET SUSPENDED!
