Richland Center Sister City Projects

Santa Teresa

The Richland Center-Santa Teresa Sister City Project was established in1987 to promote people-to-people relationships between Richland Center, Wisconsin, and the municipality of Santa Teresa in Nicaragua. Most of our contributions go toward supplying healthcare, education, agriculture and environmental support to the residents in the villages of Chacocente Wildlife Refuge, known for its globally important sea turtle nesting beach. Recent projects have included the construction of latrines, wells, and a school building, secondary school scholarships, agricultural and women’s livelihood initiatives, sea turtle and migratory bird conservation. Members of the Sister City board have made regular trips to Santa Teresa over the years to monitor the projects done with our contributions. Read more about Santa Teresa

Yueqing China

On April 12, 2012 the City of Richland Center established a sister city with Yuequing China by Resolution 2012-7. Yueqing is situated in the coastal area of southeast Zhejian Province bordered by the rippling sea off the shore of the Yueqing Bay with a population of 1.139 million.
