Library Assistant

Position Available: Library Assistant 

Brewer Public Library seeks a part-time Library Assistant for 12 hours per week: Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm, and Wednesdays from 12pm to 6pm. Duties include working at the circulation desk, assisting patrons in locating library materials, shelving of library materials, fielding phone calls and reference questions, assisting patrons with the use of public access computers and other electronic library resources, and working with other library staff to complete routine and special tasks. The ideal candidate is community-focused, inclusive, creative, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of team. Candidates should possess effective verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service skills, technology skills, and the ability to make monetary change. This position requires good mobility and stamina, including the ability to tolerate prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting books. For more information, see the job description below. The starting rate of pay is $14.10 to $14.75 per hour. There are no benefits associated with this position.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A college degree is preferred.
  • Library experience is preferred.
